Bridget Jones's Diary

Film Name -2:14 & 1:34 The name of the film is introduced to us early into the trailer, as it helps us to understand the narrative of the film. The voice over of the trailer also helps us to understand the narrative, as it is as if we are listening to a diary entry. We are told the name of the film again near the end of the trailer. This is to ensure that the audience remembers the name of the film.

Actors 1:08- We are told the stars names so late into the trailer through the use of a voice over and onscreen text so that people do not forget them. However, Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant are very recognizable people, as they both appear in the genre multiple times. Fans of these stars will want to come and see the film. We see close ups of each to establish them in our audiences mind.

What ties action together - 0:12 - On screen graphics tie action together, along with the voice over provided by Renee Zellweger, as it helps to add meaning to the narrative of the film, as it is almost like a diary entry. On screen graphics support what she is saying. The on screen graphics are in colours that stand out on a black background, so they are easy for viewers to read.

Narrative -The trailer introduces us to what the film is going to be about. Bridget is writing a diary as she wants to take back control of her life. She makes a number of resolutions, such as to not care about her weight, or to not date people with certain qualities. However, she ends up falling for her boss, who embodies all of these qualities. She is torn between two love rivals.

Music -Non diegetic through the use of a soundtrack - includes a rendition of 'All By Myself - Celine Dion' by Renee herself, and all pretty well known songs, as with most Rom Coms. As well as this, there is a voice over that announces the name of the stars, as well as using genre specific lexis, such as 'In every life there comes a time to turn the page.' Diegetic sound -The lift, car engine, kareoke music, telephone

Timing - Just under 2 minutes long. However, the trailer is quite slow paced, but there is a lot of information within it.
